Photographic Archive
In addition to having recorded the memories of countless veterans of the day-fighter war over NW Europe, and the Battle of Britain in particular, Dilip has also collated an enormous photographic archive. These are essentially snapshots from the personal albums of survivors and the relatives of casualties, meaning that these really are unique windows through which we can still glimpse the past. Not having access to such rare material, many authors are obliged to rely upon readily available sources, meaning that the same photographs are repeatedly reproduced. Dilip’s early recognition that veterans’ personal albums, like their memories, represent rich primary material led to him copying many hundreds of their photographs – in the process collating a unique arvhive. This means that all of Dilip Sarkar’s books are profusely illustrated with original photographs.
Dilip’s photographs have also been used as stills on various TV programmes, and even on Battle of Britain air combat flight simulators! Anyone interested in reproducing any of these unique photographs should contact Dilip directly.
